21 febrero, 201263-year-old Reto Wittwer has been now for 17 years with Kempinski, the Swiss luxury hotel Brand and recently became interviewed, here are some of the most important statements:
About the growth of Kempinski he says that the build a new hotel for every year of the company, so, 114 years of kempinski = 114 hotels. From this hotels more than half need to be in Europe because they want to be a European hotel chain, but this does not stop them from expanding to most of the countries in the world.
About luxury, he things that class and mass don’t mix, that is the reason for his growth strategy and in his opinion the reason for the companies, now they’re making a joint venture in china to expand in Asia, The chinese hotel chain NUO is planning 100 hotels but there are 2 in progress: Shanghai and Beijing, the main idea is to make class tailor-made for chinese.
The main effort of the year for Mr. Wittwer is clear, training his personal and spending 50% of the time helping develop the personal skills, and that is what defines kempinski, the human touch and being authentic, they hire people for what they are and not for what they want them to be.
At the moment kempinski is expanding all over the world in the medical and luxury tourism industrie.
Why is Mr Wittwer a hotel rebel? He doesn’t take “no” for an answer and the most important thing, he hates procedures, this kills the initiative of the employees, and that is what they need to evolve.
