11 abril, 2012The United States is experiencing a jobs crisis. Most economists predict unemployment won’t drop below 8% for at least the next year—making this the longest stretch of unemployment above 8% in over 70 years.
That number rises to double digits within the Hispanic and African-American communities.
That’s why Starbucks has teamed up with the Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) to create and sustain jobs. They have called it the Create Jobs for U.S.A. Program. It provides capital grants to select Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). The CDFIs then provide financing to underserved community businesses which include small business loans, community center financing, housing project financing and microfinance.
The Starbucks Foundation has seeded this project with a $5 million donation. Everybody can join its cause by donating $5 or more
in exchange of a white and blue wristband with the message “Indivisible”.
And we wonder ¿Why don’t we start doing the same in Spain?
