6 March, 2013Mr. Lluís Serra Agut, president of the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Sant Pol de Mar received on 1rst. December at the Theatre Arteria Campos Elíseos of Bilbao the National Hospitality Award 2011 awarded by the Spanish Federation of Hospitality (FEHR) within the category of Hotel School in recognition of the training performance of this university founded in 1966. The gala was attended by professionals and leading representatives of the sector and institutions.
The jury appreciated the pioneering history of the school, a hotel school in which students carry out their practices with real clients, and also the fact of being the first tourism university in Spain to opt for hotel management studies and Masters, either in the hospitality and the cuisine domains.
During the award ceremony to EUHT StPOL the organizers highlighted the importance of learning cuisine, not only from a good chef, but also of receiving tips, tricks and training from teachers of prestige, and stressed the high value that the school gets in the forums of the internet by private users. In specialized networks the Hospitality School of Sant Pol de Mar has always a very positive feedback, in particular, on the excellent preparation of students who come from there, the quality of its teachers and as the best calling card, the large number of professional chefs, managers and experts in gastronomy that manage the most important restauration companies in Spain and abroad. Finally, the 45 years devoted by the institution to university education were praised during the ceremony. All of them good reasons for parents concerned with their children education in the hospitality field to give their trust to the Hospitality School in Sant Pol de Mar.
Since its first edition in 2007, the FEHR awards have recognized the important work of individuals and companies who have excelled in the various domains of the business and social sectors or have worked in partnership with the hospitality industry, in areas as important as technological innovation, quality, food safety, commitment to people with disabilities, promotion of the Spanish cultural heritage and environmental responsibility, within the whole Spanish context.
Among the winners of this year also included Pedro Subijana, for his leadership in the project Savour Spain, Pedro Larumbe for his commitment to quality, Angel León for his innovative path in the restaurant Aponiente and the La Máquina Restoration Group, for its promotion of traditional cuisine.
