The Sant Pol University School of Hotel Management and Tourism has seen the birth of many stars of the gastronomic world. Many of them have created their own businesses and have even won awards and Michelin Stars or have received different gastronomic recognitions and awards.
In this post we are going to know 4 cases of former students who have opened different successful restaurants around the world, each one with its own philosophy and the creative mind of the different chefs.
1
Restaurant Tresmacarrons (El Masnou)
Located in the Maresme region, in the province of Barcelona, we find the restaurant of the chef and former EUHT StPOL student Miquel Aldana. The establishment's philosophy consists of practising a regional and seasonal cuisine, which establishes a calendar of products together with the producers. In this way, they create a constantly changing menu in which the products of the sea, the mountains and the area's vegetable gardens predominate. The establishment has been awarded a Michelin star.
2
Maito (Panamá)
Maito Restaurant is located in Panama City, in the country of the same name. It is owned by chef and former student Mario Castrellón. Its aim is to promote Panamanian gastronomy, fusing traditional flavours with elements from other cultures. Panamanian cuisine is very diverse, with Asian, Caribbean and Afro influences, resulting in a very rich and varied gastronomy. In fact, this year it has received the 6th The 50 Best restaurants 2024 Latin America award.
3
Restaurant Xavier Pellicer - Healthy Kitchen (Barcelona)
Chef Xavier Pellicer has a long career in the gastronomic sector. He was head chef at ElRacó de Can Fabes, a 3 *** Michelin-starred restaurant alongside Santi Santamaría; he later ran the 2 Michelin-starred ABaC restaurant and then decided to open his own restaurant in 2018: Xavier Pellicer Restaurant. In fact, in the same year of its opening, he received the 2018 World's Best Vegetable Restaurant Award according to We're Smart Green Guide. His philosophy is based on respect for the food he works with.
4
Restaurant Ramon Freixa (Madrid)
And finally, another of our alumni, Ramon Freixa has a restaurant in Madrid, next to the secret garden of the Hotel Único Madrid: Restaurante Ramon Freixa. Recognised with 2 Michelin stars, it is a very creative proposal that has been in operation for eleven years. Freixa has recently announced the closure of this restaurant, which will remain open until December this year. However, he has announced that he will be embarking on a new gastronomic project also in Madrid.
In conclusion, there are many alumni who, after their time at EUHT StPOL, have embarked on different career paths. These four EUHT StPOL alumni restaurants are just a few examples, as there are many professional opportunities to choose from. At the University School of Hotel Management and Tourism of Sant Pol de Mar we want to train in excellence and from the philosophy of #learningbydoing and encourage our students to choose the future they want.
