Located in a charming coastal town on the coast of Barcelona, it offers you an idyllic environment to study in a multicultural environment, with a wide range of leisure and cultural possibilities, while enjoying a temperate climate next to the sea.
Still not sure? Keep reading to find out about our five reasons why you should prepare here an exciting career in the hotel industry.
1. Relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle
Sant Pol de Mar offers much more than just a place to study; but also a lifestyle by the beach. This charming Mediterranean town allows you to immerse yourself in a quiet and relaxed environment, enjoying the temperate climate of the Catalan coast. At the same time, you will find here a variety of activities around the area, such as mountain trekking along the coastal hills or through the Montnegre-Corredor Natural Park -located at about a 10-minute ride away from the school- or water sports for the most spirited ones.
Alternatively, the cultural attractions are numerous if you visit the surrounding towns, with architectural marvels such as the Castle of Santa Florentina or the Jewish quarter of Girona -both settings filmed in the popular Game of Thrones series-, the Castle of Tossa or the Santa Clotilde and Blanes Botanical garden. And you can get by to all of them just in a train ride, whose station is 5 minutes away from the campus.
2. A hotel industry environment
Located at the doorstep of the Costa Brava, Sant Pol de Mar is located in an area with a high tourist influx. Thanks to EUHT StPOL’s professional visits, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in an active and well-established hospitality and culinary industry, learn from experienced professionals, and gain hands-on experience at renowned establishments. Additionally, you will be able to enjoy local Mediterranean cuisine and explore a wide variety of top-notch restaurants and hotels, giving you a unique insight into the industry.
Located halfway between Barcelona and Girona, more than 40 Michelin-starred restaurants are located in the vicinity of EUHT StPOL, many of which are destinations for internships. Without going any further, Sant Pol de Mar is the hometown of Carme Ruscalleda and its Sant Pau Restaurant, with 3 Michelin stars.
3. Leisure and culture
One of the greatest advantages of studying in Sant Pol de Mar is its proximity to Barcelona’s entertainment and cultural activities. Spending a day at the beach practicing paddle boarding can be fun but there is always something new to discover. Barcelona, one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in Europe, is just 40 kilometers away, and its museums, concerts and well-known nightlife are connected with a 45-minute train ride. At a similar distance is Girona, one of the most beautiful cities in Catalonia that also has many cultural and entertainment options to offer.
In spring, the music festival season across the area is on. Make sure to check out Primavera Sound, Sónar, Cruïlla, or Temps de Flors, but there are many others!
4. Academic programs and practical training
With almost 60 years of history, EUHT StPOL is the leading hotel and gastronomy school in Spain, recognized internationally for its academic excellence and, above all, its practical approach. Here, you will find a wide range of academic programs adjusted to the needs of the market and taught by top-level international lecturers. Our offer includes Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees, officially recognized by our affiliation with Universitat de Girona.
Unlike other training centers, EUHT StPOL owns an on-campus Hotel with real customers which is run by students with professor supervision, allowing straight and ongoing training in the day-to-day routines of the hotel industry. Since the very first day of classes, our students are already hands on the front desk, restaurant and kitchen of our hotel.
5. ‘Sant Pol’s family’: an international community
With around 240 students on the EUHT StPOL campus, the expression ‘little-big family of Sant Pol’ is often used. The daily contact at class and during the internship shifts at the Hotel strengthen the ties of friendship and security between students, classmates and teachers of our community in a very special way.
Around 50% of the students come from outside Spain, and here you will find yourself sharing classrooms and experiences with classmates from different countries and backgrounds. This multicultural environment is also reflected in the activities, events and exchange programs. From cultural festivals to international cuisine nights, every day there are new opportunities to explore diversity. This interculturality encourages open-mindedness, mutual respect and empathy, which are very valuable skills in the hospitality sector.
