19 December, 2023With 54 Michelin-starred restaurants, Catalonia continues to be the most decorated region in Spain by the Michelin Guide. Disfrutar Barcelona, a regular collaborator with EUHT StPOL, has achieved its third star, becoming the fifth Catalan restaurant with the highest Michelin distinction.
Barcelona hosted the Michelin Guide Spain 2024 gala, awarding up to 34 new stars. Among the honored restaurants, Disfrutar (Barcelona) and Noor (Córdoba) stand out, both earning their third star, while Venta Moncalvillo (Daroca de Rioja) secured their second.
EUHT StPOL, in the most recognized location
Between Barcelona and Girona, the high-demand culinary environment at EUHT StPOL has once again been acknowledged. Catalonia maintains its status as the Spanish region with the most stars, totaling 71 distributed across 54 restaurants. This year, besides Disfrutar’s third star, Quiralt i Suto in Barcelona earned their first star. Emporium (Girona) and Algadir del Delta also received a green star, recognizing their efforts to minimize their carbon footprint.
At least seven chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants conduct master classes at EUHT StPOL for our students every academic year. Over 25 Michelin-starred chefs have collaborated with EUHT StPOL, including nine with three stars and seven with two stars. Michelin-starred restaurants also serve as internship destinations for EUHT StPOL students across various academic programs. On another note, EUHT StPOL alumni collectively boast 7 stars.

Special Awards
The Michelin Guide Spain 2024 gala also recognized the contributions of various professionals in the national gastronomy scene, many of whom work in Catalan restaurants. Among them, Josep Roca of Celler de Can Roca (Girona) was named the best sommelier; Joan Carles Ibáñez of Lasarte (Barcelona) received the award for the best service in the dining room; and Martina Puigvert was honored as the best young chef for her work at Les Cols (Olot). Additionally, Juan Mari Arzak received the mentor chef award.
