19 May, 2015Catalonia will obtain the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2016, after the Agriculture, Livestock, Fishery, Food and Natural Environment Department and the Catalonian Agency of Tourism together with the entities, agents and personalities of the country, presented in Portugal on February 2015 the Catalonian application to opt for this recognition.
The European Region of Gastronomy is an initiative launched by a platform of European regions and administered by the International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism (IGCAT)
The IGCAT, with address in Sant Pol de Mar, is closely related with the Hotel-School de Sant Pol de MAR, since its President Diane Dodd, together with several members of the association, are professors of the Master in Hospitality Management which is offered in EUHT StPOL. Likewise, Eva Canaleta, Coordinator of the Master in Hospitality Management, has been designated as Board member of IGCAT.
This initiative, granted every year to a region, pretends to stimulate, collect and spread the knowledge to contribute to a better life quality in the European regions by means of the promotion of food cultures and the incentive of the gastronomic innovation.
