Young Hoteliers Summit: What’s it?

The Young Hoteliers Summit (YHS) is the world’s largest hospitality event organized and driven by students. Each year, the YHS features about 30 speakers, hospitality and tourism students from 40 hospitality universities around the world, as well as media and other guests.

This is not the first time that EUHT StPOL, one of the best universities worldwide in Hospitality and Leisure Management, has participated in the summit. Annually, two students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management attend the presentations and challenges that are raised during the days of the YHS.

Who participates in the Young Hoteliers Summit 2021?

In this edition of the Young Hoteliers Summit, which due to Covid-19 is held online, Clàudia Masoni and Klara Chazarreta are the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management that participate as representatives of EUHT StPOL.

They will share a team with hospitality and tourism students from universities around the world: Pennsylvania, Washington, Lebanon, China, India, etcetera. In total, about seventy participants divided into thirteen teams of five people who must share and solve challenges and projects about the theme of the event.

“What I find most interesting of participating in the YHS is the interconnection with other people. Far away from being a competition, the event is a great opportunity to sum different points of view and to generate new ideas” explains Clàudia Masoni, EUHT StPOL participant at YHS.

Rethink, re-sculpt, rejuvenate: the theme of the Young Hoteliers Summit 2021

Every year the Young Hoteliers Summit select a theme. In this edition, the YHS has these three words as its central topic: Rethink, Re-scuplt and Rejuvenate.

A summit to think about new models of hospitality and tourism adapted to the post-Covid-19 scenario characterized by the need for less human interaction and more digitization, with innovation as a key element for the prosperity of certain companies and with a focus on gender equality and diversity in the staff. All this together with new ideas to launch successful business, a very useful tool for the next generation of entrepreneurs.

“I am looking forward to hearing from the speakers who participate in YHS; they are very interesting people and from different fields related to the hospitality industry”, advances Klara Chazarreta, a student of EUHT StPOL participating in YHS.

One of the international experiences of EUHT StPOL students’

Participating in the annual Young Hoteliers Summit is only just one of the different opportunities that the students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Tourism Management have to live an international experience. Together with the YHS, during the four years of their studies, university students have different options to participate in projects, events and challenges promoted by different institutions on current issues in the hospitality, tourism and gastronomic industry.

Moreover, they have also the possibility to have up to four international experiences during the studies, including summer internships, Erasmus or an exchange with another university.
