15 December, 2020Maito restaurant, owned by the chef and EUHT StPOL’s alumni Mario Castrellón, ranked 42 in the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants 2020 list and it has consolidated as the best restaurant in Panama for the third consecutive year.
Mario Castrellón is one of the former students of EUHT StPOL who has a recognized trajectory in the culinary arts industry. He was a student in the 2004 promotion of the Technical Degree in Gastronomy and Restaurant Service and we are pleased to know that his restaurant Maito has been considered for the third consecutive year as the best in Panama by the Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants.
The event, held on December 3 in a virtual format, highlighted the role of Mario Castrellón as a chef who not only “investigates native products and visits producers, artisans and indigenous communities on a regular basis” but also “he has started a movement of young chefs who seek to promote a Panamanian identity on the plate”.
