9 trends in the hotel sector for 2023
12 January, 2023Are haute cuisine restaurants profitable?
27 January, 2023EUHT StPOL’s Professional Development Days (PDD) are back in their face-to-face format bringing as many opportunities as ever. During three days, 18 hotel chains will be coming to our Hotel School to meet and interview our last year students.
For the first time, the PDD of EUHT StPOL will last 3 days in order to accommodate the increase in companies that this year will participate in the most important professional event of the University School of Hospitality and Culinary Management of Sant Pol de Mar. The purpose of this is to promote the professional takeoff of our graduates in hotel management, culinary arts, restaurant services & events through internships or career plans with the visiting companies.
From February 7 to 9, about 90 students from the different EUHT StPOL academic programs will meet with interviewers from different hotel chains, some of them with Michelin-starred restaurants.
The 18 participating hotel chains are Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group (Hong Kong), Marriott International (USA), Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, Paradores, AMR Resort-Hyatt, Elba Hotels, Real Hotels & Resorts, H10 Hotels, Catalonia Hotels, Meliá Hotels International, Minor Hotels (Thailand), Best Hotels, Senator Hotels & Resorts, Four Seasons (Canada), Six Senses Hotels Resorts and Spas (Thailand), Accor Hotels and IHG Hotels and Resorts.
Each student will come out with different internship offers and career plans, among which they will be able to choose their professional destination. For example, in the previous edition, the PDD reached 456 interviews among the 74 last-year students who took part. They were enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Tourism Management, in the Gastronomy and Restaurant Service Technical Degree, and the master’s degrees in Hotel Management and Culinary Arts and Kitchen Management. On average, each student had 6 interviews, and in the case of our undergraduate students, the average exceeded 10 interviews per candidate.
Año tras año se ha demostrado que las JDP son una fórmula eficaz y eficiente para facilitar la incorporación de los nuevos titulados a las empresas de hotelería y restauración.
Other means for labor market entry
The PDD are an effective and efficient formula to facilitate the incorporation of new graduates into hotel and restaurant companies, but they are not the only means of insertion into the labor market for EUHT StPOL students. In addition, during the academic year other international hotel chains and restaurant groups come to the university campus to interview students as they are constantly looking for an internship opening, they might have.
Over the years, EUHT StPOL has strengthened a wide network of contacts in the hotel, gastronomy, and restaurant sector: from hotel chains to independent hotels and restaurants. Many of them awarded international recognition in their field. In fact, many EUHT StPOL Alumni are nowadays directors or department heads of hotel companies around the world.
For these and other reasons, EUHT StPOL has been considered the #1 Hospitality and Tourism university in Spain and #12 in the world according to the QS World University Ranking 2022.
