Nearly 500 interviews between students and hotel chains in favor of their job placement: it is the result of the PDD 2020

24 February, 2020The Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar has been the venue today Thursday February 20th of the 37th edition of the Young Cocktail Competition of Catalonia, a contest that has had the participation of 12 students from different hotel and restaurant schools in Catalonia; as well as professionals under 25 years. All of them with a clear objective: to demonstrate who is the best young cocktail maker in Catalonia.
The Young Cocktail Competition of Catalonia has had the participation of different Hospitality and F&B schools in Catalonia, each one represented by a student and his cocktail proposal. In total, twelve participants who have started the contest with a knowledge test on cocktails and then went on to the demonstration phase, during which they have prepared and explained the cocktails in front of the jury of skill and ability. Then, in another room, the tasting jury also valued the cocktails according to different parameters regarding this area.
Finally, the Young Cocktail Competition of Catalonia has awarded as the best cocktail “Ephemeral”, designed and prepared by ESHOB student Cristina Riera, who has received the “Manuel Villalante” trophy awarded by the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar. Jatin Kanda, a student at the School of Hospitality and Tourism in Barcelona, has received the “Special Club del Barman” trophy as second best ranked by the “Manchai” cocktail.
The trophy of the “Associació Catalana de Sommeliers” for the cocktail with the best score of the tasting jury has been for “Pink Sunset” designed and prepared by Sergio Xavier Pardo, of the Bivio restaurant; while Ignasi Artés, from the Osona School of Hospitality has received the “Josep M. Gotarda” trophy for the skill and ability for the “Reminiscence” cocktail. The prize for the best explanation and communication of the cocktail has been for “Maridatge 20” by Eduard Rosario, student of the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Girona.
Once again, the winner of the Contest organized by the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar qualifies to participate in the Catalan Cocktail Contest organized by Club del Barman.
The Young Cocktail Competition of Catalonia, one of the most veteran cocktails competitions in the country, ended with the delivery of participation diplomas to the finalists and with the group photographs of the winners and jurors.
