29 November, 2023The 2023 edition of The Best Chef Awards once again confirms the importance of Spanish cuisine on the international scene. Dabiz Muñoz repeats for the third year as best chef, while Albert Adrià rises to second place, with Ana Roš completing the podium.
What do some of the names featured in the Top 10 have in common? Chefs such as Joan Roca and Oriol Castro regularly collaborate with EUHT StPOL through master classes or as internship destinations for some of our academic program students. Do you want to know the full list? Keep reading!
Spain, the country with the most chefs represented
From first position to place nº 91, up to 20 chefs have their establishment in Spain, including Italian Paolo Casagrande head-chef at Lasarte Barcelona. He chaired the last jury of the Catalan Young Chef Award organized by EUHT StPOL. What’s more, in the surroundings of our school between Barcelona and Girona, there are the establishments of 10 chefs that appear on the list.
Dabiz Muñoz, the best for the third time in a row
Madrid-based chef Dabiz Muñoz, the owner of the three Michelin star restaurant DiverXO, leads the Top 100 of the best chefs in the world on the list of ‘The Best Chef Awards’.
He is followed by two chefs who have risen very strongly in the list: Albert Adrià from Enigma in Barcelona, with two Michelin stars; and Ana Roš from the three-star Hiša Franko (Kobarid, Slovenia). You can’t miss classics like René Redzepi, Andoni Luis Aduriz, Rasmus Munk, Joan Roca or the chefs from Disfrutar: Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas.
Special prizes
In addition, Jordi Roca has won the Best Pastry Award thanks to his Rocambolesc bakery, receiving this award for the second time. Ferran Adrià has seen his legacy as a professional who revolutionized world gastronomy recognized with his work at elBulli from 1983 to 2011, with The Best Chef Legend Award.
The rest of the Special Awards were: The Best Chef Pizza Award, for Franco Pepe; The Best Chef Dining Experience Award, for Grégoire Berger; The Best Chef FoodArt Award, for Karime López; The Best Chef Rising Star Award, for Tala Bashmi; The Best Local Chef Award, for Roberto Solís and Wilson Alonzo; The Best Chef Science Award, for Rodolfo Guzmán; and The Best Chef Voted by Professionals Award, for Rasmus Munk.
The best chefs and the EUHT StPOL’s link
Surely, students from different EUHT StPOL promotions will remember having shared learning with chefs who are today considered the best in the world. In addition, its restaurants are internship destination for EUHT StPOL students, with a high-rate chance to stay in their kitchens with a regular contract.
For example, Oriol Castro, exBulli and one of the three chefs at the restaurant Disfrutar, has taught a master class on more than one occasion with the students of the Master in Culinary Arts, Innovation and Kitchen Management.
