EUHT StPOL will host the final of the European Young Chef Award 2017

The international event will be held for the second year in a row at the facilities of the University College of Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts of Sant Pol de Mar

Next Monday, November 6th, the Hotel-School of Sant Pol de Mar will host the final of the European Young Chef Award 2017. Organized and promoted by the IGCAT (International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Art and Tourism) together with the European Region of Gastronomy platform, is the second consecutive year that takes place in our facilities. The event will have the support of Prodeca and the Catalan Tourism Agency.

The world-renowned chef Joan Roca is the ambassador of the competition which highlights that “The European Young Chef Award offers future professionals not only the opportunity to demonstrate their worth in a contest, using their ability to create innovative recipes based on the culinary roots of their regions, but also gives them a great opportunity to learn from each other, discover other culinary cultures and share knowledge and experiences”.

The international contest brings together 10 young chefs – between 18 and 26 years old – finalists from different European regions with the aim of achieving the best dish. In front of a renowned jury, the contestants must defend their creation to win the European Young Chef Award 2017.

The winner of the 2016 European Young Chef Award, Stamatios Misomikes, from the southern Aegean region will offer a master class for 2017 participants and will share his experience as a young IGCAT ambassador since he won the title last year.

The Conference will conclude in the afternoon with a Round Table entitled “Mentoring Young Chefs” with Agiro Barbarigou, renowned Chef of the South of Aegean and Toni Massanés of the Alicia Foundation (Catalonia) together with the finalists of the 2017 edition.
